STANLEY:
“ You dumb Son of a Bitch, what the hell is the matter with you? “ I screamed at myself as I flung my golf club after dubbing yet another easy shot yesterday.
Wizard I’m seriously considering giving up this game that has the ability to transform me from an ecstatic Son of God into a raving egomaniac.
Perhaps you can help me, along with millions of other golf enthusiasts, from the weekend duffer to the frustrated professionals we watch falter under the pressure cooker of tournament competition on Television.
WIZARD OF IS:
Life is much too precious a gift to be squandered in the inevitable journey from the ecstasy of winning to the agony of losing.
The true champion in the game of life, for which golf is an excellent metaphor, is one who dedicates his efforts to Me, the God Who resides inside each and every one of you.
I wait patiently for you to come to Me, your true potential.
When you allow another god, the one you created as your ego, to dictate your actions, you crucify yourself on the cross of your self imposed limitations. This ego god of yours creates the fear that paralyzes and hypnotizes you with the thoughts of failure that prevent your natural grace from appearing.
When you choose Me as your God and guide, your natural grace takes over and the satisfaction and joy of reaching your unlimited potential results.
With Me as your guide, you play “ Golf in the Kingdom “ and there is no more heavenly place to be than the golf course. So instead of giving up the game, invite Me to join your foursome and your competitors will become your
playmates. The game will then be played lovingly and be thoroughly enjoyed by all of you.
Give up the conflict involved in competition and enjoy your companions. Rejoice in their success as well as your own.
Count the score if you must but the score doesn’t count.
